DeleteThere is nothing wrong with lying there like that, and nothing wrong with being a housewife either - but the two things are very different! There is a confusion there. Housewives don't lie on the sofa doing nothing (they get pretty hyperactive, just like him), OR looking like the cat that just got the canary (so cute!). Besides, the Zen thing IS to "be doing" nothing.
DeleteI am waiting for a more experienced translation, there is a lot missing and I don't understand the nuances of what is said (and this brings me down so better not to dwell on it). He seems to be saying something about "private" after the talk about marriage. He's really intelligent - but he once said he's a bit of a clown, and I think that shows here. On the surface he's the sunshiney, happy-go-lucky personality people adore but the "Las Vegas" quip is very very sad at its core, as we're a long way off from equality where respect is concerned. Also because Las Vegas as a marriage venue has become legendary in a negative way (everyone getting married who cannot do so in other places, but is this real? So "even we can get married there" is really sad, as if they were the lowest outcasts you can imagine, not True Royalty like they are - so again, maybe the nuances are not coming through like they should; I know I can relate to what Adam said about the issue). These things affect the private and the public persona as a whole, not separately, so it's a difficult task to work out how one exists within this present, everyday reality - and how that works with our ideals. (Not to mention that there is a Destiny at work, through everyone involved, so one needs to keep a really high consciousness here for things to go smoothly and not create energy blockages).
I'm afraid the show hosts "do not get it" when they say "some songs are dedicated to you", like there is some other world separate from one's soulmate when writing music. There isn't, other lovers from the past or connections are just aspects of your True Love (like Mika says, "Even the book in your pocket"). So also all the questions about marriage may not be getting it, the bond they have (like Adam said, an "intellectual... spiritual, intergalac... intellectual connection"). Indeed, if you have an "intergalactic" connection like that, man-made institutions have no claims on your union (they were originally derived from this higher thing, so if you ARE "there" what need is there for religious institutions?). And I have always fought for my own "privacy" about these decisions, which I understand better now (for instance, my soulmate and I have been on a protest, until all of us could be free to have Love in our lives; also I believed that I never wanted to get married, because it would take away my freedom - however, if you find The One then The One IS your freedom - it's a magical thing). So I do hope that when they want to go to a different level, they'll go for it and not hold back on account of these outside perceptions, only to mask it off with flamboyant bravery about "Las Vegas". You know? We all become what we believe, I think.
I love their love too, but as with all fandoms, I need to remember that while this guy is "Sunshine" (and for real!) he is also just a 27-year-old. We all have these different levels.
and besides! according to Elvish custom they're already married. :D
